    The T-45A Goshawk jet trainer is at
    the heart of the T45TS, the U.S.
    Navy's first totally integrated
    training system for undergraduate
    jet flight training.  As a major
    T$%TS system,  the Goshawk plays a
    key role in keepings training costs down.  Relative to comparable
    trainer the operational aircraft,
    the T-45A offers extremely low
    operational and support costs.  High
    equipment reliability and
    designed-in maintainability features
    equate to a very low requirement for
    maintenance personnel and
    facilities, and low cost of
    ownership.  The exceptional fatigue
    life and flexible avionics system
    ensures a service life well beyond
    that of any trainer currently in
    production.
    Here the T-45A prepares for launch
    from the USS Kennedy during carrier
    suitability testing in December
    1991.
